Core Responsibilities of the Assistant Manager:
  • Trains and manages all coffee shop staff.
  • Participates in hiring, scheduling, timekeeping, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions of staff.
  • Supervises and coordinates all retail sales activities.
  • Select appropriate vendors, makes coffee shop food and supply purchases, and controls inventory in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Develops and implements the coffee shop menu; costing and pricing the menu appropriately.
  • Estimates and forecasts food and beverage consumption, monitoring production volumes, and adjusting future production as needed; and maintains budgetary controls.
  • Maintains an organized system of comprehensive coffee shop record keeping.
  • Maintains established food and beverage presentation standards.
